UC-IIŽ is a patented form of undenatured type II collagen. The efficacy of UC-IIŽ has been attributed to its precise absorption site and possible mechanism of action. UC-IIŽ is absorbed in the gut (Peyers patch) which is a significant absorption site for the bioavailability of this ingredient. Once absorbed, UC-IIŽ then initiates synthesis of anti-inflammatory molecules. The type-II collagen initiates a cell-signaling cascade involving anti-inflammatory cytokines (TGF-B and IL10) which then trigger chondrocytes to produce type II collagen and other extracellular matrix proteins in the knee. Clinical Studies Show UC-II Increases Joint Comfort, Mobility and Support. Studies have also shown that UCIIŽ is statistically significantly more effective than Glucosamine and Chondroitin in modulating knee osteoarthritis symptoms as measured by WOMAC. What is also significant is that the results attained from UC-IIŽ is achievable through a small single daily dose of only 40mg.
Curcumin is a bright yellow chemical found in turmeric (a member of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae). Curcumin is classified as a curcuminoid and is also produced by other Curcuma longa plants. Curcumin reduces inflammation by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Curcumin also detoxifies the liver, protects the immune system and has blood thinning (antithrombotic) effects.
